Easter

I did not tell KB about the Easter bunny just told him that the Easter bunny brought him something this morning. It was really fun. When he saw the basket there was a little bunny in it and he grabbed it and said Easter Bunny. The day before we went to Dicks Market to make a deposit at the bank and they had a guy dressed up as the Easter Bunny. When KB saw him he just froze and stared at him for the longest time until a worker asked if we wanted a picture. He was hesitant to sit on his lap but did it and would not smile for the picture after the pic he just kept staring at the bunny I had to finally pull him away.

KB loves planes so he got a bunch of them in his basket.

Left over toy from Christmas that we did not give to him so used it for Easter. I was afraid he would not be interested in it but he loves it and says where is the farmer when he wants to play with it.

This was my attempt of getting him to smile for the camera so he could show off his messy face from the robin eggs. I was proud of myself I only bought one kind of candy and did not give him a ton. But really that is just because I am tired and lazy and then I would end up eating most of it anyway.

We also colored Easter eggs and Kaleb had fun putting some stickers on the eggs. It will be nice when he is older so that he can actually color them, too messy to let a 2 year old have control over dye.

Since we did not go to Kanab this year we only did a little over a dozen of eggs. I had to keep on the tradition since this was one of the most fun things we did on Easter weekend when I was a kid, besides rolling them at the dunes. We did not roll eggs but on Sunday I hid some eggs around the yard and let KB have an Easter egg hunt and he loved it and he got the eggs cracked and ready for me to peel and make deviled eggs. :) We had dinner over at the hubby's brother's house and the in-laws were down as well. It was a yummy meal and then we had some excitement, somehow KB twisted his leg and he would not walk on it and would cry so we went to the instacare. They did an x-ray but did not find anything wrong with his leg. Yesterday he was on and off all day. Running around one minute then saying his leg hurt the next. This morning he seems to be fine so hopefully we don't have to make another visit to the doctor.

Like Father Like Son

I was in the kitchen doing something and I turned around to see this. There is good and bad about this. I mean the picture is so dang cute....Kaleb being just like his Daddy. But on the other had the magazine he is looking at is some warhammer thing not sure what the stuff is called but I will not be pleased if KB follows his dad into the computer gaming world. I think to much time is entirely wasted on those games. But I am not at fault I waste PLENTY of time watching TV. Anyway it is a cute pic and KB calls the books his roboty books and he likes to look at them.

Yucky Pregnant Pics

These are the reasons I always am the one taking the pictures and not in them. I don't think I have to many pictures of me pregnant with Kaleb either. But I figures I may want them sometime far in the future. I am 31.5 weeks pregnant in this pictures. I have gained way to much weight with the pregnancy the DR. even tells me so. Gotta love that. I am so looking forward to the at least 70 lbs I am going to have to loose after baby sister is born. I was taking these with a timer and Kaleb thought it was great fun and wanted to be in the pictures too.
I go to the Dr. this Wednesday for another appointment and I am sure they will do another test to see if I might go into labor in the next two weeks which I don't think I will. I was supposed to go in a couple of weeks ago but I was sick and got out of it. I don't  enjoy having a pap every time I go in. Anyway I have braxton hicks all the time but nothing else has changed so I think we are doing OK. Sleeping has become VERY uncomfortable and I wonder why women keep doing this over and over again. Maybe it is because I am older but my Mom had to been crazy to do this 9 times but glad she did or I would not be with my family that I have.

This last weekend was fun, My nephew Terence got married so Kaleb and I went down to Utah Valley for the Luncheon and then Mikko joined us for the reception. The events were very nice. Then my parents came and stayed with us Saturday night. The men went to the priesthood session and Mom and I made a Lemon Custard Souffle. It turned out pretty good. Kaleb loves Grandma and Grandpa and was very sad that they had to leave on Sunday and especially because they were in the truck and Kaleb very badly wanted to go with him. He is all boy.

My Mom is Amazing & Baby Sisters Room

There was a infant clothing sale at Old Navy and so since I only had only dress for baby sister I decided to spend some money. I spent $100 on new clothes for baby and Kaleb. We are trying to have everything ready for the baby to come. I want to be ready by the end up April in case she comes early like Kaleb did. I still have a couple of things left to do in the room and then I will put up some pics of the finished project. Also to come will Kaleb's finished room and our Master bed and bath.

While I was in Kanab I took a few sewing projects with me for my Mom to help me with. Well since I was so sick she did everything for me. She is awesome. Here is the cover she made for our foam pad that we have in the theater room. I had no idea how to make one of those.

She mended the comforter I had made for Kaleb's room. I got a little close to the edges on some of the squares and Kaleb has peed on the blanket a few times so after washing it several times it was coming apart in places. Thanks Mom for fixing it for me.

Since I did not want to take apart the crib and change it to a different room we decided to just give Kaleb a new room and but the baby in Kaleb's old room. I did not want to paint so I just kept the green them and added some pink to be a little more girly. I found this cute fabric and my Mom sewed squares of it all along the bumper she did a great job. I tried and tried to convince that we should just do one long strip down the middle but she was determined that the squares would be cuter. It was more work for her but she did an awesome job.

Then we just used some of the same material and attached a strip of it to the existing curtains I had. I think they look great. I wish I would have taken a picture of my Mom actually doing all of the sewing. She is great I wish I would have learned to sew from her when I was younger. But I was pretty stubborn and I would never listen to her when we tried to do sewing projects together as a teenager. Sorry Mom. But it is my loss now.

Kanab Visit

We headed down to Kanab last Tuesday to visit my parents. We usually go down for Easter but I was pretty sure that by the time Easter rolled around I would be way to uncomfortable to make the 5 hour drive. Kaleb was pretty good in the car and we made pretty good time. I of course had to stop a couple of times to pee. By the time we got there I knew it was a mistake for me to make the drive by myself my back was killing me and my neck muscle were so tight. I made a massage appointment but unfortunately that didn't happen cause the therapist got sick. Didn't really matter I caught Kaleb's cold he had the week before and it was the worse cold I think I ever had. I could not do a thing. Being pregnant was not a plus. It was good I was with my family so they could take care of Kaleb for me.

Kaleb had so much fun while there. The weather was great it was 70plus all week except Sunday. My brother's family came down on Thursday and so between those cousins and the ones in Kanab Kaleb had a wonderful. Time the best thing was I think he only watched 3 TV shows the whole time we were there!!

Here Kaleb is showing off his taadaa trick for Grandma and Grandpa. See the little ball toy thing. That was Kaleb's favorite toy. He played with it everyday for a long time. Pretty sure that if I had one at home he could care less about it but since he sees it only once in a while he loves to play with it.
One day we went to the furniture store to look at some carpet samples and they had a plane to play with when we left he thought he should be able to take it with him. Unfortunately we could not. He cried and cried then my mom of course had to spoil him and went to the dollar store and bought him a plane to play with. He loved it of course.

Aunt Kristi came and took Kaleb out to play one day and he found Grandpa's riding lawn mower and he just had to sit on it for a long time and pretend he was driving a truck. He kept calling it a truck. Kaleb was funny he loves his jacket he did not need it one but everyday he thinks he needs his shoes and jacket before he goes outside. So sad what winter has done to him. jk So that is why he is wearing a jacket with shorts.

Here is Kaleb feeding the neighbors horses, he loved looking at them and Grandpa helped him get some grass to feed them.

I imagine that the look on his face is the surprise of how strong the horses are when they take the grass out of his hands.

Another day and another fun time blowing bubbles with cousins. He had so much fun. He did not call his cousins by name but he would always ask for them when he woke up. He either wanted to know where Grandpa was or the cousins. One day my dad and McKay went to go get the other truck and Kaleb starting crying when Grandpa was leaving that they caved and let Kaleb go with them in the big truck. He loved it.

Finally

Well they usually say that 3rd time is a charm but for me it was the 4th. I know I said that I would not go back to for another ultrasound but I changed my mind and they were able to get me in this morning. So I hurried and took and shower and got Kaleb changed and we drove over to the hospital. The baby finally moved out from under my pelvis and we got a good shot of the bum. The tech was 100% sure that is was a girl and you can check out the photo for yourself. Yeah I can finally box up Kaleb's baby clothes after I go through them and pick out the neutral stuff. We met up with Dad for lunch and had a celebratory lunch at the Gateway food court. It was really nice to finally get a good look at the baby and we feel more comfortable now.

Saturday work = Painting

We did a little work first on Saturday and painted our Master bath. I let Kaleb have a try. He always watches me paints and wants to participate so we let him have a turn.

Saturday Fun = Bowling

We decided to go bowling for the weekends activity. Kaleb had a great time. He was so impatient he never wanted Mikko and I to take our turns. He would keep getting in the way so much that we had to physically hold him while either one of us would took our turns. He did a great job. Kaleb almost beat Mom but then again he did get the bumpers and the little guide thing. We probably wont go on a Saturday again it was really expensive for us three to bowl. I can't believe they charge full price for a 2 year old. Tuesday's are the special days so we will have to go then.

1 2 3's & Things He Says

So I just wanted to take a minute to write/type down some of the accomplishments and things Kaleb has been saying. It's amazing how fast kids learn and how quickly things change. It was just overnight when it changed. Kaleb would count and would say 1 3 5 8 3 5, then just this past week he counts to ten with no mistakes. We love to see him get smarter every day. He has also done really good with matching, I had no idea that he knew this concept but we have these little puzzle pieces that have pictures and then color and textures that match to a picture and he could match everyone of them up!! I was so proud.

I guess it was a couple of weeks ago that we were finishing the last touches on our newly installed chair rail in our bed room when Kaleb comes in and sees us caulking and he says to me "Nice job Mommy". It was pretty cute. Another thing he says regularly is "That's Cool" just a few minutes ago he was riding Daddy around the room like a horse and he could see over the couch and he says "that's cooool". Another one he likes to use is that smells nice. He loves to get in our drawers in the bathroom. He especially enjoys Daddy's deodorant. He likes to rub it on his cheeks and arms. We are trying to show him how to put it in his underarms. Anyway he pulls of the lid, smells it, and says "mmmm that smells nice" but it sounds cute cause he can't say his L's very well. I look forward to even more wonderful things that he will say and do.

Character

So last night I had to speak to a young women group about skin care, so Mikko once again was on night duty with Kaleb. When I got home Mikko told me that they were getting ready for bed and Kaleb stopped what he was doing, and said Spiderman, and went and got in his drawer and pulled out his Spiderman swim suit. He wanted it on and his Hawaii swimming suit on as well. Mikko said he cried and cried until he gave in and put the Spiderman suit on him. He wanted both on but Dad drew the line, changed the suit and left just one suit over the PJ's. So this is what our little character looked like this morning. He also wanted to wear Daddy's watch this morning. I put it on him and he pointed to it and said. "Georgie eighty clock". He is an avid lover of Curious George and I let him watch the episode that comes on at 8am. So all the time he is saying Georgie 8ty clock. Because he loves to watch the show on TV.

So a little bit later in the morning I had a wax client over and Kaleb was driving me crazy because he was in my facial room with me touching everything he was not supposed to. So I took him upstairs to watch Tom and Jerry. I gave him a little bowl with some Cheerios in it, then went back to my client. Well my mistake was I left the cereal box out on the island counter and did not put the box back in the pantry. So when I was finished with my appointment I came back upstairs to find this little prize. He sure will go after whatever he wants. Thank goodness it was not anything liquid. So needless to say I am already tired and have taken a short nap while he was trapped in his chair for lunch!!

Picture Time

I think I took this last week. Kaleb loves to give Daddy and Mommy kisses. I like this one cause you know he is posing for the pic as his eye is trying to see me take the picture. We love all the love this little guy will give us. We feel so blessed to have such a good little boy.

The same night Kaleb got a hold of the camera and took some pics of Mikko. This is the best shot he got. The rest only had the tips of Mikko's hair in it.

Another wonderful pose he gave me. He is a character. His latest thing to do when people come over is give everyone a really big growl and he has a mean scowl on his face when he does it.

Frustration

So I hardly write about me or Mikko but I figure this blog is a good way to journal as well.
Today was a frustrating day for me. I went to the hospital for the 4th time to get an ultrasound of the baby. The first time we went the baby's legs were crossed at the ankles. The tech was 95% sure is was a girl but said I could come back for a free sex check.

A couple of weeks later I went back for a check. They could not see anything, the umbilical cord was in between the legs. This tech tells me that she was 100% sure that her daughter was going to have a girl but upon delivery surprise it was a boy. So now I have no faith in the techs. They tell me to come back for another try.

So I go last week to the hospital and they could not fit me in and tell me that I need to call first. That was annoying cause the other tech tells me I can just drop by anytime and they should be able to fit me in.

OK so today I call and they are able to see me. I go in and again nothing, the baby's bum is too low down to my pelvis, they have me walk around drink some juice and they try having me move to my side to get a better look. But no luck. So I am tired of going over to the hospital and getting no results. I don't plan to go back for another look. It will just have to be a surprise. But I still think it may be a girl because she is not be very cooperative which sounds like a girl to me!

Tender Husband

I just have to write about Mikko and how tender he is and how I am glad I get to see that side of him sometimes.
So today at lunch I asked Kaleb if he would like to bless our lunch he said yes. So he did his best to repeat what I would say mostly just the last word I would say. It was really cute.
So when we sat down for dinner as a family I asked Kaleb if he would like to say the blessing. He said yes again. Mikko seemed a little surprised. Again he repeated what I said and after the prayer I looked over at Mikko and he had tears in his eyes. He told Kaleb how proud he was and of course I started to tear up as well.
It's just so nice to see and experience emotion and love in my husband. Most Finnish people do well at hiding there emotions but I am glad that Mikko is not afraid to show his. I love him so much.

He Means Business

We purchased Kaleb a new Sunday outfit and doesn't he look great. I told him I wanted to take a picture and put him on the couch and he did this pose for me even the hand in the pocket.

Turned out he was getting something out of the pocket. Anyway I think he is the cutest thing ever and it is so fun to watch his little personality or should I say BIG personality develop. We love this little man.

Must Be Finnish Blood

For Valentines day Kaleb played in the snow, it may be the Finnish blood in him and it may just be that he is a kid. He enjoyed playing in the snow the other day while Mikko cleared our driveway. The weather has been funny lately. It will snow melt all away and we see the green grass and then it snows again. Can't wait until spring and summer come!

Poser

The other day while I was working on something getting Kaleb's new room ready. I turned around and this is how I found Kaleb. I thought it was hilarious. I said "oh Kaleb don't move I need to go get the camera to take your picture." He stood up by the time I came back, but I told him to sit back down like he was and he did! He is such a poser and just so so so cute. We love this little boy. He is getting ready for his modeling career. :o)

Kangaroo Zoo

We went to the Kangaroo Zoo this last Saturday. It is a place where they just have a bunch of inflatable toys and a miniature golf area all inside. So it is a great place to go in the winter. This was our first time. We put Kaleb on one of the toys and for about 3-5 minutes he just stood there not knowing what to do next. He would watch the other kids jump around. I thought, oh no, he is just going to stand there the whole time. But soon he started bending his knees testing out the bounce, then gradually started bouncing, and then he was off and having a great time.

Soon he was running all over the place and did well at climbing up some of the other toys that had slides and they were kind of steep. He was loving it. He went for an hour straight without stopping. Mikko and I took turns being by him to make sure he was OK. I can only stand so long with out my feet hurting, pregnancy has caused my feet to swell.

We finally took off his shirt cause he was sweating because he was playing so hard. Here is a little jumping sequence of him.

This is a great place especially during the winter, the only problem is Saturdays and holidays are way too crowded and then there are too many older kids who just don't watch out for the younger ones. We will go again, but most likely during the day or week when the older kids are not there. It is also just two blocks from our house which is nice. We don't have a grocery store close but we have this!

After an hour of non stop action he was a little tired so he went and grabbed a drink cup that was on the ground that was not ours and tried to drink it, we hurried to intervene. The poor boy was parched. We bought him a juice drink and he was back on the toys for another 15 minutes. Next time I think I will take him before bed time, so he is so worn out that he will just go to bed afterwards!

Driving

So a couple of weeks ago Mikko picked up Kaleb from the babysitter. When they got to the garage Kaleb refused to get out, and wanted to stay and play in the car.  Even after 30 minutes it took food to get him out of there.  Looks like he's ready to follow daddy as a car guy!

Hot Chochie Milk

When we were in Kanab for Christmas Kaleb got to try out Hot Chocolate and he loved it. He would ask for hot chochie milk. As you can also see in the picture he has a hole in his bottom lip or something cause he had a steady drizzle going down the front of him.

I thought these pictures were cute because he is using a miniature baby mug that Mikko's co-worker gave to us. He has not asked for it for awhile so I try not to drink my hot chocolate in front of him, he gets enough sugar as it is.

Baby Gretchen

Today was our ultrasound of the baby and the tech said she was 97% sure it is a GIRL. She said she would feel comfortable if I went out and bought girl clothes. So that is nice. Mikko has named her Gretchen for now, he likes to give the babies an in womb name. Kaleb was known as George while in the womb.

Little Gretchen was not being helpful at the ultrasound she had her legs crossed at the ankles so it took a little work to see what was going on. Mikko said yeah it's a girl and I was like all I see is grey stuff. Anyway the tech said everything looked good to her but the specialists will go over the pics and if there are any problems I will hear from the doctor.

We are happy to know that we can feel good about having a boy and a girl now and wont have to try for a third baby. Every time I go to the Dr. she always talks to me about the possibility of the baby having some type of problem since I am over 35. She is not saying the baby will not be normal but that she has to inform me of the possibility of Spinal Bifida and Down Syndrome. I know lots of women have healthy babies into their 40's and are not too old, but I just don't want to have babies while I am that old. I myself was born to a 38 almost 39 year old mother and my younger brother to a 43-44 year old mother and we SEEM to be normal. My Mom might not be normal but that is because she had to deal with 9 kids. I don't know how she did it, she is amazing. :)

Coupons and Sales

I just thought I would show this, because I felt good about my purchase. I don't usually get screaming deals but I have tried this couponing thing where you use coupons on top of sales and a website tells you where to get the coupons and list on the sales.

I am sure someone can do way better but I feel really good about it. I got all these 78 items for $65 before tax and that includes 2 big packages of chicken and milk (i buy expensive kind with no hormones). My receipts say that I saved with the store sales $92.51 and coupons $113.80. So that is the part that makes you feel good, at least those numbers really impress Mikko. Anyway like I said most of the time when I go shopping the screaming deals are all gone I just lucked out today except for the yogurt deals, all the yogurt was all gone. You have to have a subscription to the paper and I got a deal through grocery smarts and got 4 Sunday papers for 6 months and it cost $20. But I am not renewing cause it just hurts my brain to much to try to figure out all the logistics and I don't like to waste all my time on it.

Also it may look like junk but Mikko loves toaster strudels so those are for him and the fiber one stuff is good. And now Kaleb has a year supply of fruit snacks.

Kaleb's First Sledding

The day after Christmas a bunch of us headed out to the Sand Dunes to do some sledding. It is very rare that Kanab even gets snow on Christmas, and we had 5 fresh inches of snow Christmas morning. Last time I remember snow on Christmas was 1989. Anyway, Kaleb likes the snow so we thought we would see how he would like going down a hill on a tube. He looks game in the beginning.

He does not quite understand that he needs to hold on so he fell off at the end. And this was not a steep or big hill we are at least kind parents.

The result. I don't think he liked it. We had him go down twice by himself and it just ended up with big tears.

So Mom went down with him about 3 or 4 more times and he wanted to go to the car. We figured he would not last very long. He wanted to go back to grandma's and have some "hot chockey milk". So we loaded up and let everyone else stay longer. Mikko would have participated but we really did not think there would be that much snow and we did not have any snow gear. I was lucky that I brought my Uggs and they were great. Not real sledding boots as I think they are more for looks but they sure did keep my toes toasty. That coat I am sporty is probably from 1988. I know I had it in high school, so scary. Poor Mikko only had on sneakers and his toes were freezing. My parents didn't even have boots to borrow that is how little it snows in Kanab.
